Advertising campaign development: where to start
The usual mistake is to start with the visuals. A business owner in Tashkent orders a banner and a Reels video, switches on ads, and a month later cannot say whether they worked. The order should be the reverse: goal first, creative last.
Write a short brief. What are you selling, to whom, by what date, with what budget, and what must never appear in the ads? The key line is the goal, and it has to be checkable. “More customers” is not a goal. “More enquiries for the new branch before it opens, at a cost per enquiry we can afford” is.
Know the buyer before the creative
Find out who buys and what stops them. A shopper in Samarkand and one in Tashkent may care about different things: instalments, delivery, paying by Payme or Click, or simply whether they can message you in Telegram. Look at competitors on Instagram, OLX and Uzum to see which promises are already worn out.
From this research comes one key message, the single idea a person should remember. The creative concept is just the way of making it noticeable. Prepare a few variants and test them on a small budget instead of arguing about taste.
Offer, channels and media plan
An offer answers “why now”: a free measurement, a gift with the first order, a deadline. Without it even a strong message stays pleasant but passive.
Choose channels by where your audience is and what the goal demands. Meta Ads works when you need to show a product to many people, Google Ads when people are already searching, Telegram for warming up and repeat contact. The media plan spreads channels, formats and budget across weeks. Keep part of the budget in reserve so you can back whatever performs best in the first days.
Check where the ads lead. A landing page should repeat the promise of the ad, open fast on a phone and make the next step obvious.
Set up measurement before you launch
This is the step most often skipped, and later nobody can say what worked. Before the start, make sure you have:
- a separate phone number or promo code for each channel;
- UTM tags on every link;
- goals in analytics: form sent, call, button click;
- a “source” field in your CRM, or at least in the enquiries spreadsheet;
- an agreement with sales on who asks the customer where they heard about you, and how.
Where a Telegram bot fits
Many customers in Uzbekistan would rather message you in Telegram than fill in a website form. A bot can take an enquiry, answer routine questions, hand out a promo code and pass the contact to a manager, so evening and weekend requests are not lost.
It also helps with tracking. Each ad gets its own start link, and your database shows which channel the person came from. But a bot is part of the campaign, not a substitute for it: its script must repeat the message and the offer, or the customer drops out at the first step. At markdev we build Telegram bots for exactly these tasks, such as enquiry handling, catalogues and follow-up messages.
Launch, optimise, review
After the start, confirm that everything runs as planned: ads are delivering, links open, enquiries reach the team. In digital channels the first days are for adjustments. Weak ads are paused, strong ones get more budget, audiences are narrowed.
At the end, compare the result with the original goal. What worked, what did not, what an enquiry cost and how many turned into sales. These conclusions become the base for the next campaign. You are needed at the brief, when choosing the idea, approving materials and recording results, and the faster you decide, the shorter the path.
If you would like to go through your own task and build a campaign plan, write to markdev and we will discuss the goal, the budget and the right channels.
FAQ
How long does it take to develop an ad campaign?
It depends on scale and on how quickly approvals happen. A small campaign without a shoot is ready much sooner than one with video. Most delays come from slow sign-off on the client side.
Where should I start with a small budget?
With one clear goal and one or two channels. It is better to test the message cheaply and scale what works than to spread the money over five platforms.
What if I have no CRM?
A simple spreadsheet with date, source and status columns is enough. What matters is that managers fill in the source for every enquiry.
Does every campaign need a Telegram bot?
No. A bot pays off when you get many enquiries, customers like to talk in Telegram, and requests arrive outside working hours. For a one-off promotion, a form or a phone number may be enough.
