Why video in AI answers matters for local business
More customers now ask an assistant or a search engine first and only then open Instagram or message a company on Telegram. Whether you sell air conditioners in Tashkent, furniture in Samarkand or run courses in Fergana, the questions sound alike: how to choose, what is the difference, what to do if something breaks. A clip that answers one of them can reach a person before they have ever heard your brand name.
Promotional videos about the company rarely appear in these answers. Videos that are useful on their own, even to someone not yet ready to buy, are the ones that get surfaced.
How AI systems read a video
The main input is text. A model leans on what is written about the clip and next to it:
Some multimodal models can analyse picture and sound too, but it is safer not to depend on that and to give them clear text instead. There is a platform angle as well: YouTube belongs to Google, so clips from it show up in Google's AI answers more often. If your videos live only in Instagram and Telegram, they are harder to find through search, so duplicate the useful ones on YouTube.
- title and description;
- captions and speech transcript;
- chapters with timestamps;
- the page where the video is embedded;
- comments and mentions on other sites.
Titles, descriptions and chapters
Write the title as the customer's own question: “How to choose an air conditioner for a flat”, not “Our new video”. The description should run a few short paragraphs: what the viewer will learn, who the video is for, the key takeaways and a link to the relevant page on your site. Work key terms in naturally instead of listing them with commas.
Chapters let search point to one fragment instead of the whole clip, for example “How to check for leaks”. Add them to every video longer than a couple of minutes. Give the short answer in the first seconds and the detail afterwards; it suits both viewers and machines.
Captions in Uzbek and Russian
Automatic captions often get Uzbek speech, model names and technical terms wrong. Upload captions you have checked by hand. If the video is in Russian, add Uzbek captions, and the other way round. It widens your audience, and for Uzbek-language queries there are often fewer clean, helpful videos than in Russian.
Publish a transcript or a short written summary on your site too. For an AI system it is the full text of the clip, with nothing left to guess.
Put the video on your own site
Do not leave a video only on a platform. Embed it on a page with text on the same topic: an article, a service page, an FAQ block. Add VideoObject markup so search engines get the title, description, duration, thumbnail and upload date, and make sure the page opens quickly on a phone.
A page that combines a video with useful text works better than a clip with no context, because search has more signals about what the material covers.
What to film
Clips that answer one specific question get recommended most often:
Take topics from real customer questions: managers' Telegram chats, Instagram comments, phone calls, questions on OLX and Uzum. List them, pick the most frequent and turn them into a filming plan. One video, one question, named at the very start.
- how-tos: how to make, install or choose something;
- comparisons: how one option differs from another;
- breakdowns of common mistakes;
- answers to frequent customer questions.
Measuring whether videos bring leads
Once a month, ask several assistants the questions your videos answer and see whether your clips appear. In YouTube Studio, check traffic sources: views from search and external sources show that people are finding the videos. If a clip never shows up, compare its packaging with the videos AI does recommend; the gap is usually the title, description or chapters.
A view is still not an enquiry. To see which videos produce real requests and sales you need end-to-end analytics: UTM links in the description, a separate promo code or phone number, a Telegram bot that records the source, and enquiries logged in a CRM or at least a spreadsheet. At markdev we connect that chain from the video to the payment through Click or Payme. If you want to know which videos pay back, talk to our team about your setup.
FAQ
Should we post on YouTube if we mainly use Instagram?
It is worth it. YouTube belongs to Google and its videos appear in search answers more often. Keep Instagram and Telegram as your main channels and duplicate the useful clips on YouTube with a clear title and description.
Which videos do AI systems recommend most?
Those that answer a specific question: how-tos, comparisons, mistake breakdowns and customer FAQs. Corporate promo videos seldom appear.
Are automatic captions enough?
Checked captions are better. Automatic ones often fail on Uzbek speech and technical terms, and errors in the text hurt both viewers and search.
How do we know a video brings customers?
Check traffic sources in YouTube Studio, and for enquiries add UTM links, promo codes or dedicated contacts and gather everything in one tracking system. That shows the path from view to purchase.
