AIDA Model: How to Use the Sales Funnel in Uzbekistan

The AIDA model splits a buyer's journey into four steps: attention, interest, desire and action. In Uzbekistan it is often described as a sales funnel, and for a business owner it works best as a checklist. Before you spend money on an Instagram ad, a Telegram post, a product card or a sales script, run it through the four letters and see which step is missing.

Why the AIDA model still earns its place

AIDA comes from classic advertising, and it has survived because it forces you to read your own message the way a stranger would. You know your product inside out, so it is easy to skip a step that the customer badly needs. A model this simple makes the gaps visible.

The funnel image is a loose one. At every step some people drop out, and the useful question is not why advertising does not work but where exactly people leave.

Attention and interest: earn the next few seconds

Instagram, Telegram channels, OLX and marketplace listings all compete for the same thumb. The most reliable way to stop it is to name the reader's situation: a headline like Opening a coffee shop in Samarkand? beats Best coffee in town. A clear audience, a strong contrast or a question people want to answer all help.

The trap is attention at any cost. A striking photo unrelated to the product earns views and clicks, then nothing. Once you have the pause, interest has to be kept with usefulness: what problem you solve and how it differs from what the reader already knows. Talk about their task, not your company's history.

Desire: the step most messages skip

Being interested is not the same as wanting. At this stage the reader should picture life with the result and believe it is real. Messages that jump straight from a headline to a buy button usually fail here. What helps:

  • describing the outcome in the customer's own words, such as a calmer workday or fewer missed calls
  • real reviews and examples, ideally screenshots of actual conversations
  • demonstration: video, before and after photos, a trial option
  • removing fears with clear terms, familiar payment methods like Click or Payme, a return policy and honest answers to common questions

Action: remove every obstacle

Desire is fragile. A long form, a phone nobody answers, or a button that opens the homepage instead of the order form will lose the customer on the last step. Name the action directly, whether that is messaging on Telegram, choosing a time in a bot or placing an order, and offer one option rather than three.

Test it yourself on a phone over mobile data. Tap the button, see where it goes and time how long a reply takes.

How the AIDA model works in practice

The same logic fits a single line or a whole page, which is why it travels across channels.

  • Meta Ads creative: the headline and image carry attention, one benefit carries interest, proof carries desire, the button carries action.
  • Landing page: each screen handles one stage, from the first heading to the request form.
  • Telegram post: the first line hooks, the body explains and convinces, the contact or link closes.
  • Sales conversation: an opening question, clarifying the customer's task, a similar example, a concrete next step.

Reading your numbers through AIDA

Once a campaign runs, the model doubles as a diagnostic. Plenty of impressions but few clicks points to weak attention. Clicks followed by quick exits suggest interest was not held. Visitors who read but never leave a request usually lack desire, or the action is too hard. This turns ad account and CRM figures into a specific edit instead of a vague feeling that something is off.

Where the model falls short

Real buyers do not move in a straight line. They go back, compare competitors, ask family. AIDA also says nothing about what happens after the purchase, such as repeat orders and recommendations, and it is thin for long B2B deals with several decision makers. For one advertising message it is a quick, working tool. For an entire sales system it needs company.

If you want to build that bigger picture, mapping the customer journey and setting priorities is a marketing strategy task. markdev works on exactly this for businesses in Uzbekistan, and you are welcome to talk through your situation with the team.
