What people are really looking for
Getcontact is a caller ID app. It shows the names under which a number is saved by other users. That leads to two typical situations. In the first, someone wants to know who called or messaged from an unfamiliar number. In the second, a business owner notices that customers ignore calls and suspects the company number is labelled strangely or flagged as spam.
Telegram bots look attractive because there is nothing to install and no need to give an app access to your contacts: you just send a number to a chat. That is also where the trouble begins. We cannot confirm that any particular bot is connected to the service itself, and nobody can tell you where it gets its data.
The risks of sending a number to an unofficial bot
A bot is someone else's code running on someone else's server, and its owner is unknown to you. Before you send a number, yours or a customer's, consider the following.
- Your query and the number stay with the bot's owner, and you have no control over what happens to them.
- The bot may ask for a card transfer or a click on an unfamiliar link to complete the check, a common scam pattern that is sometimes dressed up as a Click or Payme payment.
- It may ask for an SMS code or a Telegram login, which puts your work account at risk.
- Third parties' data is processed without their consent, and Uzbekistan has a law on personal data.
- Results can be outdated or simply invented, so any decision based on them may be wrong.
How your company number looks to customers
Caller ID services build names from entries in people's phone books. If a manager calls from a personal SIM card, the customer may see a random nickname instead of your company name and simply not pick up. You notice it most when calling people who left a request on Instagram or your website and have already forgotten about it.
There is plenty you can do without any bot:
- Assign one or two company numbers instead of letting managers use personal ones.
- Publish those numbers on your Instagram profile, your website and your map listing.
- Message the customer on Telegram before calling: who you are, which company, and why you are calling.
- Ask regular customers to save the number under your company name.
- If a listing is clearly wrong, look for a way to contact the service through its official support channels.
A Telegram bot of your own instead of checking other people's numbers
A business does not need to work out who a customer is. It needs to receive the contact voluntarily. Telegram has a built-in Share Contact button for this: the person sends their own verified number, and you explain beforehand why you need it and how it will be used.
A bot like that can handle quite a lot:
- collect requests from Instagram, your Telegram channel, ads and your website in one place;
- ask qualifying questions such as city, service and preferred time;
- answer common questions in Uzbek and Russian;
- show a catalogue and take payment through Click or Payme;
- notify a manager instantly and pass the request to a CRM or a spreadsheet;
- send broadcasts only to people who agreed to receive them.
What a Telegram bot's price depends on
There is no fixed price for a bot until the task is described. A simple business-card bot with a request form and a bot with a catalogue, payments and a personal account are very different projects. The cost depends on the number of scenarios, integrations with a CRM, payment systems and stock, the interface languages, whether there is an admin panel, and hosting and support after launch.
Before signing, clarify who will own the bot's code and account, where customer data is stored, and who is responsible for later changes.
Where to start
Agree on the metrics first: cost per request, the share of people who reach payment, and reply speed. Add UTM tags and analytics events to the links that lead to the bot, otherwise you will not see which ads bring people in. A small bot with a single scenario is enough to test the idea, and it is better to expand it based on data than on a hunch.

FAQ
Is there an official Getcontact bot on Telegram?
We cannot confirm that. Take links to official resources only from the service's own website and app, and treat every other bot as unofficial.
Is it safe to send a phone number to such bots?
There is no guarantee. The owner is unknown and the data can be used in any way. Never enter SMS codes and do not follow suspicious links.
How can I tell whether my business number puts customers off?
Compare answer rates for calls from different numbers and ask customers how the number appeared on their screen. Measure the result before changing anything.
Can a business legally collect phone numbers through a Telegram bot?
Yes, if the person shares their contact voluntarily, understands the purpose and you use the data only for it. That is what the Share Contact button and a clear consent message are for.
