What a promo code actually is
In Google Ads, a promo code is an advertising credit. It can’t be cashed out or withdrawn. The system simply applies it against your future spend on impressions and clicks. Once the credit is used up, charges go to your card or account balance as usual.
Google decides who gets credits, when, and under what terms. The rules depend on your billing country, account currency, account type, and the promotion period, and they change over time. That’s why tables of amounts and thresholds found online go stale quickly. We deliberately don’t quote numbers here: current details are visible only inside your own account.
Where to find a Google Ads promo code and how to redeem it
The only reliable source is the Google Ads interface itself. Open the billing section and check the promotions tab. If your account qualifies for an offer, it appears there along with its requirements. If you have a code from Google or an official partner, you enter it in the same place.
The usual sequence looks like this:
- create the account and fill in your payment details;
- open the promotions section in billing settings;
- enter the code or accept the offer if one is shown;
- meet the terms, which typically means launching a campaign and spending a set amount within a limited time;
- confirm the credit shows up in your balance and note its expiry date.
Why a code may not work
The reasons are usually mundane. The account isn’t new, or it already used a similar offer. The billing country or currency doesn’t match the promotion. The code has expired. The spending requirement wasn’t met in time and the credit lapsed. Sometimes a code was issued for a different account type.
If you set up the account in a simplified mode and launched a campaign straight away, some offers may not have applied. Spend ten minutes reviewing the promotions section before launch rather than hunting for the cause afterwards.
Telegram and OLX sellers: where the risk is
Telegram channels and OLX listings in Uzbekistan sometimes offer “ad promo codes” for a fee, or “discounted account top-ups.” Treat these as a risk zone. Genuine promo credits are tied to a specific account and cost the recipient nothing, so there is little logic in selling them.
What usually follows is one of three outcomes: the code doesn’t work, the seller asks for access to your account, or the account is topped up through someone else’s payment scheme and then blocked. You can lose not just money but your campaign history, and recovering a blocked account is often difficult. Never hand over access to your ad account, and keep the business owner as administrator.
What matters more than the bonus
A bonus lowers the cost of your first tests, but it doesn’t make a campaign profitable. If the site is slow, the lead form is broken, and calls aren’t tracked, the credit simply burns faster. You see this often with local businesses: a clinic, car service, or training centre in Tashkent sends ads to the home page with no dedicated landing page and has no idea where a call came from.
Before launch, check a few things:
- a lead is recorded as a conversion: form, phone call, or click to Telegram;
- analytics is connected to Google Ads and goals are set up correctly;
- the landing page opens well on a phone and answers the query behind the ad;
- negative keywords filter out irrelevant search phrases;
- you have a clear cost-per-lead target, not just a wish to “get traffic.”
No bonus? How to test without overpaying
Having no promo code is not a reason to postpone launch. Start with a small daily limit on your most commercial queries, restrict targeting to the cities and hours when you actually take calls. After a week or two you’ll see which queries bring leads, and you can reallocate budget instead of simply increasing it.

FAQ
Can I buy a Google Ads promo code?
It’s not advisable. Official credits are tied to an account and issued free under Google’s terms. Paid codes from Telegram or OLX usually don’t work or lead to an account block.
How do I check whether my account has a bonus?
In Google Ads, open the billing section and look at the promotions tab. It lists the offers available for your billing country and currency, with their conditions.
What happens if I don’t meet the spending requirement?
The credit normally expires at the end of the period, while charges keep going to your payment method. Read the deadline and threshold carefully before launching.
Is it worth running ads without a promo code?
Yes, if you have a site or page that collects leads and conversions are set up. Start with a small budget on commercial queries and expand based on data.
