Targeted ads versus the Boost button
Many business owners in Tashkent start with the Boost button under a post. It is quick, but the controls are thin: you cannot work with audiences in any detail, it is hard to optimize for enquiries, and you rarely learn which ad actually brought in a customer.
The full Meta Ads account lets you control the campaign goal, audiences, placements and event tracking. Ads appear in the feed, in Stories and in Reels. A clothing shop in Tashkent, a clinic in Samarkand and a training center in Fergana will use different formats, but the launch logic is the same.
Pick the goal before the ad
The most expensive mistake is leaving the campaign goal on whatever the account suggests. Optimize for reach and the system will find people who happily watch ads but never write to you. Decide in advance what you actually want: a Direct conversation, a form on your site, a move into a Telegram bot, or a phone call.
The format, the copy and the way you measure all follow from that choice. Agree on metrics before launch. Cost per enquiry and the share of enquiries that end in payment matter more than likes and reach.
What people see after the click
An ad ends at the click, but the sale does not. If someone lands on a profile with no recent posts, a slow website, or a Direct inbox that answers only in the evening, they leave. Mismatches hurt too: one price in the ad, another on your profile or your OLX or Uzum listing. Trust drops immediately.
Before launch, walk the customer path yourself on a phone:
- The profile looks tidy, with recent posts and a clear bio.
- The website or bot opens quickly and without errors.
- Price and terms match across the ad, the profile and the manager's reply.
- Messages get fast answers, and the manager has ready replies to common questions.
- Payment is clear: Click, Payme or cash.
Pixel, CAPI and tracking
If the ad sends people to a website, you need the Meta pixel to record visits and form submissions. Without it, the system cannot tell which impressions lead to results and does worse at finding similar people. The Conversions API complements the pixel, because some events are lost to ad blockers and browser privacy settings. You can check the pixel in the diagnostics section of the account, where events show up in real time.
If enquiries arrive in Direct and Telegram, the pixel alone says little. You need to log, manually or in a CRM, where each customer came from and how the conversation ended. Without that, you cannot answer the basic question of whether the ads pay off.
Creatives that do not burn out
A single video that runs unchanged for weeks stops working because the audience sees it too often. Prepare several versions and refresh them in time. Shoot vertically for Stories and Reels, or part of the effect is lost in the viewing itself.
In the first seconds it should be clear what you offer, and at the end what to do next: message you in Direct, leave a request, open the bot. Show the ad to someone who knows nothing about your business and ask what it is about. Test language rather than guess: in Tashkent both Russian and Uzbek often work, while in the regions Uzbek tends to fit better.
Budget and when to judge results
A daily budget that is too small does not give the algorithm enough data to learn. Sharp jumps in budget, up or down, also throw it off, so change the limit gradually.
The first days always produce noisy data. Draw conclusions after at least a week of stable running without edits. If cost per enquiry climbs while nothing in the setup changed, the audience is probably getting tired and it is time to refresh creatives. What counts as a sensible budget depends on your niche and competition, so discuss it before launch rather than after.
Choosing who runs your ads
The Tashkent market has freelancers, small teams and full-service agencies. The difference is usually not price but whether they will report in numbers. Ask for an audit of your current setup, clear metrics and a trial period with fixed reporting before any long-term contract. Also ask about experience with the local audience and its payment habits.

FAQ
How are Instagram ads different from boosting a post?
Boosting is a simplified option with limited settings. In the Meta Ads account you choose the goal, audience and placements and track events, so results are easier to measure and improve.
My ads run but there are no enquiries. What should I check first?
Start with where the ad leads: is the profile current, does the site load fast, do price and terms match? Then check the campaign goal and the pixel. Fine audience settings come after that.
How long before I can judge a campaign?
The first days are noisy, so wait for at least a week of stable running without sharp changes to budget or settings.
Can I run Instagram ads without a website?
Yes. Ads can lead to Instagram Direct or a Telegram bot. In that case, set up fast message handling and a way to record which enquiries ended in a sale.
