What it means to rank a website on Google
When a business owner asks how to rank a website on Google, they usually want one thing: people searching for their product or service should find their site. That goal has two layers. The first is organic search, or SEO, where the site appears in results without a per-click fee, but results take time. The second is Google Ads, where customers arrive faster but only while you keep paying for impressions and clicks.
These are not rivals. Ads help you test demand and see quickly which queries bring enquiries. SEO builds up over time and reduces your dependence on an ad budget. Before choosing, ask a different question from “how do I get to number one?”: which action on the site matters, and how much are you willing to pay for it?
Technical foundations come first
Google must be able to open, read and index your pages. Sites built mainly for looks often fail here: pages load slowly, the layout breaks on a phone, some sections are accidentally blocked from indexing, or the same page exists at several addresses. Many customers open sites on a smartphone, sometimes on a mobile connection, so testing on a phone is not optional.
Check these first:
- loading speed on a smartphone and a weak connection
- a responsive layout with no broken blocks
- robots.txt and sitemap.xml, and no accidental ban on indexing
- HTTPS and one main version of the domain (with or without www)
- clear page URLs without duplicates
- Google Search Console and web analytics connected
Structure and content built around real queries
Google ranks individual pages, not whole sites. Every important service or product category therefore needs its own page for its own query. A single “Our services” page that lists everything rarely competes with dedicated pages from your rivals.
Collect queries the way customers actually type them: in Russian, in Uzbek, sometimes in transliteration or with a district name. The same person in Tashkent might search “установка кондиционера” and “konditsioner o‘rnatish”. If your audience is bilingual, plan both language versions of the site.
Each page should answer practical questions: what you offer, who it is for, what is included, how to order, how the process works and where you are located. Showing a price range, or explaining what the price depends on, filters out casual enquiries. Write the page title and description for someone choosing between several links.
Local search in Tashkent and the regions
If your business has an office, a shop or a service area in the city, a Google Business Profile listing often brings enquiries before the website climbs the results. Fill in the name, address, opening hours and category, then add photos and a link to the site. Your address and phone number should match across the website, the listing and local directories.
Reviews are part of local visibility. Ask satisfied customers to leave them and reply to every one, including criticism. In cities such as Samarkand, Bukhara or Fergana, competition for queries with the city name may be lower than in Tashkent. Check this with a normal search before you plan a budget.
Links, mentions and social media
Google takes into account whether other websites link to yours. Natural mentions are the valuable ones: industry directories, local publications, partners, and marketplaces like OLX or Uzum if you sell there. Cheap link packages usually do more harm than good.
Instagram and Telegram do not raise rankings directly, but they send people to the site and build branded search. When customers type your company name into Google, that is a healthy sign. Keep a link to the site in every profile and channel.
How to measure results
Agree on metrics before work starts. For SEO these include impressions and clicks in Search Console and positions for key queries, but the real measure is enquiries: calls, Telegram messages, payments through Click or Payme, completed forms. Rankings without enquiries are not a result.
Without basic analytics you cannot tell whether the work pays off or the budget is simply being spent. Set up goals, UTM tags and a single log of enquiries with the source noted. SEO does not work in a week, and a contractor who promises the top spot by a fixed date is promising something they do not control, because Google’s algorithms do not answer to them.
What drives the cost and how to choose a contractor
Price depends on the current state of the site, the number of pages, competition in your niche, the amount of copy, any development fixes needed and the region you target. A freelancer, a small team and a full-service agency differ not just in price but in who is accountable for the outcome and what you receive in reports. Ask for a sample report and a clear description of what will be done in the first month.

FAQ
How long does it take to rank a website on Google?
There is no honest fixed answer. It depends on competition, the age and condition of the site and the scope of work. Early changes show up gradually, and steady growth in enquiries usually follows several months of consistent work.
Which is faster: SEO or Google Ads?
Ads bring enquiries faster, but only while you pay for clicks. SEO is slower but accumulates value. Many businesses combine them: ads test demand, SEO reduces reliance on the budget.
Can I promote my website myself?
Basics such as a Google Business Profile, Search Console and page copy can be handled by the owner. A technical audit, site structure and work in a competitive niche are usually better left to a specialist.
Do I need a website if I already have Instagram and Telegram?
Social networks work well with existing demand and your own audience, but people mostly find you on Google through a website. A site also collects enquiries and analytics in one place and does not depend on platform rules.
