What a marketplace gives a farm, and what it does not
For a farm in the Fergana Valley, Samarkand or Khorezm, the main benefit is reaching customers in Tashkent and other cities without opening a shop or traveling to bazaars. Shoppers already pay through Click or Payme and expect a courier, so you do not have to teach them the process.
What the platform will not do is make every batch identical, explain why your honey costs more than the supermarket jar, or build trust on your behalf. Settle those questions before you open a seller account.
Choose the right product to start with
Judge each product on three points: how long it keeps, how well it survives transport, and whether you can hold the same quality all season. The longer the shelf life and the sturdier the product, the lower the risk of spoilage in a warehouse or a courier's bag.
- Honey, nuts, dried fruit and raisins are the easiest start
- Spices, dried herbs, teas and cold-pressed oils
- Jams and pickles, especially in glass jars
- Cheese and dairy only if the platform or your own delivery can keep products cold
- Fresh greens, berries and milk usually work better through your own delivery, sold via Telegram
Understand what goes into your price
Many farmers set a price by looking at the bazaar. On a marketplace that is not enough, because the cost base is longer: platform commission, delivery to the warehouse or the customer, packaging, returns, write-offs of expired stock, in-platform advertising, and taxes under your legal form.
Calculate the profit on one jar or pack after all of these, not on turnover. If the margin looks thin, do not cut the price to chase ratings. Change the assortment, the pack size or the shipping scheme instead. Bundles often help: honey with walnuts in one box raises the average order and spreads delivery cost across more items.
Packaging and labels are part of the product
At a bazaar, a buyer smells and tastes before paying. Online, the buyer sees only photos and then the box, so packaging does the work of your counter. Protect glass twice, and bag liquids and oils separately so a leak does not ruin the rest of the order.
The label should show the product name, ingredients, weight, production date, expiry date, storage conditions, farm name and region. Use Uzbek and, where useful, Russian. A handwritten sticker may pass at a market stall, but online it looks like a risk. You do not need an expensive box; plain kraft paper and a short story about the farm usually work better than gloss.
Product pages and reviews
Show the real thing: a jar in daylight, a cut wheel of cheese, your orchard or hives. Stock photos make you look like a reseller. In the description, say where the product comes from, how it is made, how to store it and how to use it. Explain in advance that honey color or raisin size changes from batch to batch, so natural variation does not become a bad review.
Avoid medical claims. They put the listing at risk and weaken trust. Answer every review, including critical ones, calmly and specifically.
Treat the marketplace as a first step
A platform brings new buyers, but you pay commission on every sale. Regular customers are worth moving to your own Telegram channel or bot, where you announce new harvests, seasonal products and pre-orders. Check the platform rules first, since many restrict directing buyers elsewhere.
If you are still deciding between a marketplace, your own website, or taking orders in Instagram and Telegram, that is a strategy question. FAQ
Which farm products are easiest to sell on a marketplace?
Products that keep well and survive transport: honey, dried fruit, nuts, spices, herbs, tea and jam. Perishable goods need a cold chain, so they are a risky place to start.
Do I need documents to sell food online?
Yes. Food requirements are stricter than for clothing. The exact list depends on the product and the platform's rules, so confirm it with the marketplace manager and your accountant before uploading listings.
Can I say my product is good for health?
It is safer not to. Describe origin, taste, how it is made and how to store it. Unsupported health claims damage trust and can cause problems with your listing.
Can I move marketplace buyers to my Telegram channel?
Building your own channel is smart, but read the platform rules first, because inserting links or contacts in orders is often banned. Make your farm name memorable so customers can find you themselves.
