SMM Resume: What to Include to Get Hired in Uzbekistan

An SMM resume (the same thing people search for as a social media manager resume) gets about a minute of attention. In that minute the reader wants to know one thing: can this person run our Instagram without causing trouble? Here is how to build a resume that answers that for Uzbek employers, and how to read one if you are the business owner hiring.

What employers look for in a social media manager resume

The person opening your file might be a cafe owner in Tashkent, a clinic marketer or an agency lead. None of them reads every line. They scan for evidence of real work: have you planned content, shot Reels, replied to customers in Direct, and drawn conclusions from account statistics?

Words like creative, responsible and communicative prove nothing, because everyone writes them. Say what you actually do instead: plan a month of content, shoot and edit Reels on a phone, answer Direct messages using agreed templates.

Headline and summary for your SMM resume

Put the role in the headline and add a niche if you have one: SMM specialist for beauty salons, or content manager for Instagram and Telegram. A narrow focus is easier to remember than a generalist label.

Follow it with three or four lines: which industries you have worked in, what you do well and which languages you write in. For example: I run Instagram accounts for cafes and clothing stores, write in Russian and Uzbek, edit Reels in CapCut and prepare a monthly report from account statistics. Then add a phone number, Telegram, email and a link to your portfolio.

Describe experience honestly

For each job or project, give the reader four things. If a client's name is confidential, describe the type of business instead, such as a dental clinic in Tashkent.

Use numbers only when they are real and the client allows you to share them. If you have none, describe the change in plain words: launched a reviews series that became the most saved content on the account, set up a regular posting rhythm, wrote reply templates for common questions in Direct. Invented growth is exposed by the first follow-up question or one look at the account.

  • The client or type of business
  • The period you worked on it
  • What you did: content plan, shooting, copy, Direct, blogger outreach
  • What changed, and how it can be checked

No experience yet? Use what you have

Experience is not limited to agency jobs. A friend's shop page, your own blog, a university project, a volunteer account or a Telegram channel all count. Describe them the same way: the task, what you did, what came of it.

If you built a concept for a well-known brand, label it clearly as a concept, not as client work. Employers know beginners lack big projects. They just want proof that you have already used the skills in practice.

Your portfolio matters more than the resume

A social media manager is judged by what they have made. Share a Google Drive folder, a Notion page, a PDF or a simple website, and put your strongest work in it.

If the accounts cannot be shown, build a short presentation with screenshots and a description of each task. Open the link from a different phone before sending: a broken portfolio link is a common and avoidable mistake.

  • Accounts you have managed, shown with the client's permission
  • Your best posts and Reels
  • A sample monthly content plan
  • A sample report with confidential data removed

Skills, languages and file format

Group your skills: platforms (Instagram, Telegram, TikTok, YouTube), content (copywriting, shooting, editing, design in Canva), tools (Meta Business Suite, schedulers) and analytics (platform statistics, reports). List languages on a separate line with an honest level, since content in Russian and Uzbek is often a real advantage here. Only list what you can do, because a test task is likely.

Keep the resume to one or two pages as a PDF, named something like Name Surname — SMM Specialist. Proofread carefully: someone who writes posts for a living cannot afford typos in their own document. Adjust it for each vacancy, moving restaurant experience first for a restaurant role or TikTok first for a TikTok role. Add a short cover note explaining why this company, plus one or two ideas after looking at its account.

If you are the business owner reading these resumes

Ignore the layout and open the portfolio. Read the captions, check how the person replies to comments, and give a small paid or short test task, such as a one-week content plan for your business. Remember that one specialist rarely covers everything: shooting, design, ads and analytics are different skills.

If a full-time hire is not justified yet, Instagram can be handled by a team. At markdev we manage Instagram for businesses in Uzbekistan, including content plans, shooting, copy, Direct replies and reports. Tell us about your task and we will help you decide between an in-house specialist and an outside team.

FAQ

How long should an SMM resume be?

One or two pages is enough. Move the rest into a portfolio link, where the employer can see real posts and Reels.

What should I write if I have no SMM experience?

Describe study projects, a friend's business page, your own blog or a volunteer account. State the task, what you did and the outcome, and be clear that it was not paid client work.

Should I include follower growth numbers?

Only if they are real and the client allows you to share them. Otherwise describe qualitative changes, such as new content series, a steady posting schedule or an organised process for Direct replies.

Do I need a cover letter?

A short one helps. Say why you want to work with this company and offer one or two ideas based on its current account.
