Start Instagram for business with a goal, not a post
Before you think about design, answer three questions. What counts as a result: a Direct message, a phone call, an order in a Telegram bot, a visit to your shop? Who is your buyer and where do they live: Tashkent, a particular district, another region? How many enquiries can your team actually handle in a day? Without those answers, an account becomes a shop window that people walk past.
Pick the metric that fits the business. For a beauty salon it is bookings for the week. For an online store it is paid orders through Click or Payme. For a developer it is enquiries about floor plans. Follower count is not on that list: a thousand people abroad will not bring a single customer to your shop in Samarkand.
Build a profile that explains itself
A new visitor decides to stay or leave after a quick glance at the top of your profile. It should make clear what you do, who it is for, where you are and how to reach you.
Settle the language question early. In many niches in Uzbekistan the audience reads both Russian and Uzbek, so the key parts, such as the bio, prices and how to order, are better given in both languages, rather than translating every post.
- Name and username: short, in Latin letters, easy to say aloud
- Bio: what you offer, the city, your main difference and one action, such as “message us in Direct”
- Profile photo: a logo or the expert’s face that stays readable when small
- Highlights: prices, delivery, reviews, how to order, address
- Link to a Telegram bot, a website or a catalogue
- Business account with a category and contact buttons
Plan content around a few repeatable themes
Beginners post when they have time or inspiration and run out of steam within a month. It is more reliable to define a small set of themes and rotate them on a schedule.
Reels help you reach new people, while Stories and carousels warm up those who are already interested. A phone is enough: good light, clean sound and a clear first frame matter more than an expensive camera. Do not use other people’s photos or music without rights, as the account can be restricted.
- Your product or service in action: the process, before and after
- Answers to common questions: timing, delivery, payment, warranty
- Customer reviews and stories, with their permission

Decide where your leads go
The most frustrating loss is a person who wrote in Direct and waited a week for a reply. Agree on who answers and during which hours, and prepare ready replies to routine questions about price, timing, address and delivery. For placing an order, it helps to move the customer to a Telegram bot or a manager, where collecting the address, payment and status is easier.
Record where each enquiry came from, even if only in a spreadsheet. Simply asking “How did you hear about us?” is enough. After a month you will have your first realistic picture.
When paid ads make sense
Organic growth on a new account is slow, and that is normal. Meta Ads are worth launching once the profile is set up, you have material you are happy to send people to, and the process for handling leads works.
Begin with a modest budget and test one idea at a time: one audience, one offer, one target action. Advertising amplifies what you already have, and a weak profile will only look weak at a higher price.
Common mistakes and what to measure
Once a week, look at reach, saves, profile visits, link clicks, the number of enquiries and the number of sales. Compare yourself with your own previous period, not with someone else’s account: a competitor has a different history and a different budget.
- Buying followers and likes
- Running the account without analytics
- Copying a competitor exactly
- Posting nothing but discounts
- Ignoring comments and replies to Stories
Run it yourself or hand it to a team
For the first stretch it is useful for the owner to run the account, because you learn what customers really ask. When you need consistency, shooting, advertising and reporting, it makes sense to bring in a team. Ask a contractor which metrics they will agree on in advance and whether they will show results in numbers rather than impressions.

FAQ
How long until a new Instagram account brings enquiries?
There is no fixed timeline. It depends on the niche, the offer, the budget and how quickly you reply. It is wiser to set interim goals, such as a finished profile, regular posts and the first enquiries, and watch the trend.
Can I start without paid advertising?
Yes, but growth will be slower. For a local business, a well-prepared profile combined with a small ad budget works well once lead handling is in place.
Should I use a brand account or a personal expert account?
Where trust decides the sale, the specialist’s face tends to work better. For products and several outlets, a brand account is more practical. Many businesses run both.
Which language should I post in?
Follow your audience. If customers use both Russian and Uzbek, repeat the key information in both and write posts in the language people use with you most often.
