What buy and sell groups give you, and where they stop
Someone scrolling through one of these groups usually already intends to buy: a baby stroller, a sofa, a phone, a wedding dress. That is why replies can come quickly even with no ad budget. Groups split by city, district, residential complex or topic, which suits local goods well.
The limits are just as clear. The feed moves fast and your listing sinks within hours. A brand is hard to remember among identical posts, and the buyer disappears after the deal: the contact stays in a chat, not in a base you own. Expensive services that depend on trust, or sales to other companies, rarely work in these groups.
How to choose Telegram buy and sell channels and groups
Do not post in ten places on day one. Join, watch for a few days, and only then decide where to list.
- Topic. A narrow group (kids' items, furniture, car parts) gives a more precise audience than a general flea-market chat.
- Location. For bulky or heavy items, the right district matters more than member count: meeting up is easier and delivery costs less.
- Activity. Look at questions, replies and reactions under listings, not at the number of members. A large but silent group is useless.
- Rules. They are usually pinned: how often you may post, whether posting is paid, whether commercial ads need the admin's approval, whether links are allowed.
- Language. District chats lean towards Uzbek, chats of Tashkent residential complexes often towards Russian, and many mix both.
A listing that does not sink in the feed
Using the same structure every time saves effort for you and lets the buyer find the facts at a glance.
- First line: exactly what you are selling.
- Condition: new or used, any defects.
- Size, colour, model, what is included.
- Price, if the group requires it. Listings without a price are often deleted.
- Pickup area or delivery terms.
- Contact: a Telegram username or a phone number you really answer.
Photos, language and reply speed
Take your own photos in daylight, on a clean background, from several angles. Pictures copied from the internet lower trust and are banned in some groups. If you are unsure which language the group prefers, write a short description in both Uzbek and Russian: it widens your pool of buyers.
Once the listing is live, watch for questions. Very often the buyer goes to whoever answered first, not whoever had the lowest price. When the item is sold, delete or edit the post straight away.
Rules and safety
Sellers are most often banned for repeating the same text every few hours and for ignoring group rules. Respect the interval, refresh photos and items instead of copy-pasting, and share a link to your own channel only where it is allowed.
Scammers are active in these groups, so a few habits help:
- Never open a payment link sent by a stranger.
- Never share SMS codes or card details.
- Check that money arrived yourself in your banking app, Click or Payme, not from a screenshot.
- Hand over items in a busy public place.
- For regions, use a clear delivery service and ship only after payment is confirmed.
When to move buyers into your own Telegram bot
If you sell regularly, a buy and sell group means starting from zero each time. The next step is your own channel for new arrivals and, once requests pile up, a bot. A bot can answer routine questions about availability, price, address and delivery at any hour, show a photo catalogue, take an order and pass it to you, and keep the contacts of people who agreed to hear about new items.
Do not build a bot for one or two products. It pays off when the same questions repeat, enquiries get lost in private messages, or orders arrive in the evening and at night. Give the channel or bot link to buyers after the deal, and in other people's groups only when the rules permit it.
How to tell whether a group is worth your time
Keep a simple table: group, posting date, number of enquiries, number of sales. After a few weeks you will see which groups to return to and which only eat time. It also helps to build a normal relationship with admins of the groups that work: sometimes they offer a pinned slot or a roundup to regular sellers.
If enquiries no longer fit into private messages, markdev builds Telegram bots for businesses in Uzbekistan. Tell us what you sell and how, and we can work out together whether you need a bot now or whether a channel and tidy listings are enough.
FAQ
Can I sell in Telegram buy and sell channels for free?
Many groups allow free listings, while others charge or require the admin's approval for commercial posts. The terms are usually in the pinned message, so read them before your first post.
Why are my listings being deleted?
Common reasons are repeating the text at short intervals, leaving out a required price, adding outside links, selling a banned item, or posting something off-topic. Compare your ad with the rules and refresh it rather than copying it.
Do I need a bot if I sell through these groups?
Not always. For one-off sales a good listing is enough. A bot helps when questions repeat, enquiries are many, and you need to reply quickly and keep buyer contacts.
How do I avoid scammers?
Do not open payment links from strangers, never share SMS codes or card details, confirm incoming money yourself, and meet in busy public places.
