Why the category matters more than the bot itself
In Uzbekistan Telegram is a working tool, not just a messenger. People order food and flowers there, book a doctor or a barbershop, talk to suppliers and follow store channels. A bot therefore sits inside a real sales or service process.
The most common mistake is ordering "a bot, just to have one". The result is a five-button menu nobody uses. A bot category is really an answer to one question: which action of a customer or employee do we want to make easier? Start from the action, not from the technology.
Sales bots: catalog, cart and payment
This is the most popular category for retail, cafes, flower studios, wholesale and anyone who sells through Instagram or OLX. The customer opens the bot, browses products, picks an option, leaves an address and pays. Your manager receives a finished order instead of ten clarifying messages.
A typical sales bot includes a catalog with photos and prices, a cart, a choice of delivery or pickup, payment through Click or Payme, a notification for the administrator and an order status for the customer. For a large assortment, a Telegram Mini App, a storefront inside the messenger, is worth considering. A small catalog works fine as a regular bot.
Booking and lead capture bots
These suit clinics, salons, car services, training centers and law firms, meaning any business where the service is tied to a time slot. The bot shows free slots, accepts bookings, sends reminders and lets people reschedule without a phone call. That lightens the administrator's load and reduces no-shows.
Lead capture is a separate type. You connect it to Meta Ads or Google Ads: a person clicks the link, answers a few questions, and the request lands in your CRM or work chat. You can see the path from ad to request and calculate the real cost of each inquiry.
Support and communication bots
This group covers an FAQ bot that works as a business card, a feedback bot, and bots for notifications and broadcasts. The goal is to answer quickly when the manager is busy or off shift, and to hand over to a human only the cases that truly need one.
Messages about order status, promotions and reminders work well as long as you don't overdo them. A subscriber should understand why they are receiving a message. If the bot writes too often, people simply block it.
Internal and education bots
This category is remembered less often, yet it pays off quickly. An internal bot can collect reports from sales reps, notify the warehouse about new orders, gather repair requests or route expense approvals. It all happens in a messenger the team already uses, with no separate software.
Education bots deliver lessons, tests and homework and manage access to a private channel or chat by subscription. For online courses and independent experts it replaces handing out links by hand.
How to choose the right category
Before you talk to a developer, answer a few questions for yourself:
- Which single action should the bot make easier first?
- Who is the user: a customer, a partner or an employee?
- Where should the data go: a chat, a spreadsheet or a CRM?
- Do you need payment inside the bot, and through which systems?
- What counts as success: orders, requests or hours saved?
Where to start
It is better to launch one category and bring it to a working state than to build an all-in-one bot straight away. The first version should handle the main task, and extra features can be added based on real customer requests. Connect analytics from day one, otherwise you won't know whether the bot pays for itself.
At markdev we build Telegram bots for businesses in Uzbekistan and connect them to advertising and end-to-end analytics. If you are not sure which category you need, describe your task. We will help you choose, and we will say plainly if a bot is not the right tool.
FAQ
What types of Telegram bots can a business use?
The main ones are sales and order bots, booking and lead capture bots, support and broadcast bots, internal bots for staff, and education bots. Many projects combine two of these.
Can a bot accept payments through Click and Payme?
Yes, payment systems can be connected to a bot. The exact setup depends on your agreement with the provider and the system's requirements, which we clarify when defining the task.
Why use a bot instead of a regular chat with a manager?
A bot works around the clock, collects data in a structured form and relieves managers of repetitive questions. Complex cases are still passed to a person.
Does a Telegram bot need analytics?
Yes, whenever it is tied to sales or advertising. Without it you can't see where customers drop off or how much one request costs.
