How SEO differs from paid advertising
Instagram and Google ads rent attention: impressions continue only while the budget is running. SEO works differently. You invest in the site itself, its structure and its content, and search engines gradually start treating it as a good answer to certain queries. Results arrive more slowly, but they accumulate.
That is why many companies in Uzbekistan run both channels. Ads bring enquiries in the first weeks and show whether demand exists. Organic traffic, over time, tends to lower the average cost of an enquiry. Choosing only one makes sense mainly when the budget is very tight.
Start with a goal and working analytics
The first step is agreeing on what counts as a result. For an online shop it is orders. For a clinic or training centre it is calls and bookings. For a B2B company it is form requests and Telegram messages. A ranking position does not pay anyone's salary; it is only an intermediate signal.
Before any work begins, connect your counters and set up goals: form submissions, taps on the phone number, clicks to a messenger, payments through Click or Payme. Without them you cannot tell whether SEO is paying back, and you end up judging it by gut feeling.
- Google Analytics and Search Console are connected and verified
- Yandex Metrica is installed with goals configured
- Calls and messenger enquiries can be traced
- You know which pages produce enquiries
Site structure and keyword research
The foundation is keyword research: the list of phrases your customers actually type. In Uzbekistan people search in Russian and in Uzbek, often mixing the two or typing Uzbek in Latin letters. The same demand has to be checked in each language separately; translating keywords word for word does not work.
Next, queries are matched to pages. One page, one job: a separate page for each service, product category or city you serve. If everything sits on the home page, the search engine cannot tell what to show, and visitors cannot find what they came for. It is much cheaper to plan this structure while the site is being built than to rework addresses and links later.
Technical basics to check first
Strong content will not help if the site opens badly. A large share of visitors come from phones, not always on a fast connection, so loading speed and a comfortable mobile layout are practical requirements, not details.
Go through the basics and fix whatever blocks indexing.
- Responsive layout with tappable buttons on a smartphone
- Compressed images that do not weigh the page down
- Correct robots.txt and sitemap.xml
- No duplicate pages or broken links
- Russian and Uzbek versions linked to each other, each with its own address
- Unique titles and descriptions on every page
Content and local signals
A service page should answer the questions a buyer has: what is included, how the work goes, what affects the price, how to get in touch. Generic text that could describe any company is equally boring to people and to search engines. Real examples, photos of finished work, answers to common questions and clear terms perform better.
If you have a physical location, local signals matter: a Google Business Profile, the same address and phone number on your site and in directories, and genuine customer reviews. Links from relevant directories and local media help too, but buying them in bulk is a risk rather than a saving.
Choosing an agency and setting expectations
Tashkent has freelancers, small studios and full-service agencies. The difference is rarely the price; it is transparency. Will they show you a work plan and reports on enquiries, or only a list of positions? Be wary of guaranteed first place or promises of results in a week. The search engines do not belong to the contractor.
A realistic plan looks like this: a site audit, fixing technical errors, collecting queries, improving structure, publishing content regularly and reviewing the numbers every month. The first changes are rarely instant, and that is normal.
Where to begin in practice
If you do not have a site yet, or it was built without search in mind, it is usually cheaper to build it with the right structure than to rebuild it later. If the site exists, begin with an audit and analytics, then plan content.

FAQ
How long does SEO take to show results?
There is no fixed timeline. It depends on the age of the site, competition in your niche and how much needs fixing. Changes in indexing and impressions usually appear before growth in enquiries, so agree on intermediate indicators upfront.
Can I do SEO myself?
The basics, such as analytics, page titles, service descriptions and a Google Business Profile, are manageable for an owner. Technical audits, complex structures and keyword research are usually handed to a specialist.
Is SEO better than paid ads?
They are different tools. Ads give fast traffic while you pay, and SEO builds up over time. Many businesses use both and shift budget according to results.
Do I need an Uzbek version of my website?
If your customers search in both languages, yes. Separate Uzbek pages with their own addresses and titles capture demand that the Russian version does not.
