Layout coding is not the same as web development
Layout work converts a design file into HTML, CSS and JavaScript so the browser shows exactly what the designer drew. Business logic such as a cart, a customer account or a CRM connection is programming, and writing copy or uploading photos is content work. That is why layout is often ordered separately: a design studio may have no front-end developers, or a shop may want an old template rebuilt without touching the rest of the system.
The first question to ask any contractor is what you will actually receive: static pages, templates for a CMS, or a ready front end that a back end will be attached to later. The answer drives the timeline, the price and who will make edits half a year from now.
Mobile first, desktop second
For many businesses in Uzbekistan, traffic arrives from Instagram, Telegram and ads, so people open the site on a phone, often on an unstable connection. Good layout starts from the narrow screen and expands to a wide monitor, not the other way round.
Responsive does not just mean everything fits. Check these points:
- text is readable without pinch-zooming
- buttons and links are large enough for a thumb
- price lists and tables scroll inside their own block instead of breaking the page
- images are optimised and do not burn through mobile data
- the enquiry form opens, fills and submits on a narrow Android phone and on an iPhone
What to review in the design before work starts
A careful developer does not silently accept a file. They ask whether mobile screens exist, whether hover and pressed states are drawn, what happens when a product name runs to three lines or a list is empty, and which fonts are used and whether they are licensed.
Designers usually draw the ideal case. A real catalogue has long titles, missing photos and phone numbers typed wrongly. If those edge states are not designed, the developer will invent them, and you may not like the result.
What shapes the price of layout work
A real figure is only possible after someone sees the design. A landing page with two forms and a catalogue with filters and a cart are very different in scope, even though both are called layout. The price is shaped by:
- the number of unique screens and templates
- animation and non-standard grid complexity
- the number of responsive states
- support for older browsers
- design quality: organised components in Figma or a pile of loose layers
- integrations: forms, Click and Payme payments, analytics events
Builder, template or custom code
A builder such as Tilda suits a quick test of an idea or a landing page for an ad campaign. Hosting, forms and the mobile grid are solved, and the owner can edit content alone. Ready-made templates save time too, but they usually need cleaning of extra libraries and blocks you will never use.
Custom code pays off when load speed, exact brand match, complex filters, CRM or 1C integration and independence from a platform matter. You can move that code to another host or hand it to another contractor. If you keep hitting the limits of a builder, patching it often costs more than coding the pages properly from the start.
How to accept the finished work
Ask for the source files or repository access, not only a demo link. Without them every future edit goes back through the same contractor. Open the site on your own phone, rotate the screen, paste a long text into a form field, walk through the menu and send a test enquiry. Most problems show up within fifteen minutes of this.
If acceptance is split into stages, with shared components and the home page first, then inner pages, then fixes, you spot deviations from the design earlier and correct them more cheaply.
Where to start
Prepare the design file, a list of pages and an example of your most complex screen, such as a product card or an order form. With that, any contractor can estimate the scope faster and more accurately. If you have no design yet or need the whole site, the markdev team handles website development in Uzbekistan from design to analytics setup. Describe your task and we will help you decide whether you need layout alone or a complete build.
FAQ
How much does it cost to code a website from a design?
The price depends on the number of screens, animation complexity, responsive states and design quality. An exact figure is only possible after reviewing the file.
What design file is best for layout work?
A Figma file with components, defined fonts and mobile screens. If no mobile version exists, it has to be designed separately.
Can I order layout work for a site that is already live?
Yes. Templates that break on phones can be rebuilt without touching the rest of the system, but the contractor must first review the current code.
Should I choose Tilda or custom coding?
Tilda works well for simple landing pages and testing ideas. For complex catalogues, integrations and strict speed requirements, custom code is usually the better investment.
