One account for two platforms
Facebook and Instagram both belong to Meta, so ads for both are built in Meta Ads Manager. You pick an objective, an audience, a budget and placements such as the feed, Stories or Reels. For most Uzbek businesses Instagram brings the main traffic, while Facebook is an extra placement you can keep or switch off after your first tests.
The Boost button under a post is handy for quick reach, but it offers few settings. For sales you usually need the full account, with more objectives, audience exclusions, the pixel and side-by-side ad comparison.
Start with a goal and an offer
Before opening the account, answer two questions: what action do you want, and what exactly are you offering? A clothing shop selling through Instagram or Uzum needs Direct messages. A dental clinic in Tashkent needs calls and bookings. An online school needs trial-lesson sign-ups, and a car dealer needs viewing requests.
Even perfect setup cannot rescue a weak offer. «Discounts until the end of the month» performs worse than a clear proposal: what, for whom, on which terms and what to do right now. The creative should look like your real business too: a live video from the shop, a customer review, the price and availability on screen.
Choosing a campaign objective
The objective tells the algorithm who to look for. If you want sales, do not pick reach just because it looks cheaper. The system will find people who watch, not people who message and buy.
- Messages: for services and products sold through Direct, Telegram or WhatsApp.
- Leads: a built-in form, convenient for bookings and consultations.
- Traffic or conversions: when you have a website or landing page with the pixel installed.
- Reach and awareness: for opening a new location, launching a brand or promoting a local event.
What drives the cost of Instagram ads
The price of a result on Meta is not fixed, because ads are sold in an auction. It is shaped by competition in your niche, seasonality, creative quality, audience precision, how fast your managers reply and how clear the offer is. Around holidays and big sales there are more advertisers, and impressions get more expensive.
Count the costs around the ads as well: filming and design, a specialist's time, a website or bot that receives requests, and funding the ad account. The payment method depends on your card and account settings, so check it in advance rather than on launch day.
It helps to split the budget into a testing part and a scaling part. First test several audience and creative combinations, then increase spend on the ones that bring leads at a price you can accept.
Analytics: unmeasured ads work blind
The most common mistake is launching ads and watching only likes and reach. Install the pixel if you have a website, and agree where leads are recorded: a CRM, a spreadsheet or a Telegram bot. For Direct messages and calls, mark where each customer came from and simply ask every new buyer.
Track cost per lead and cost per sale, not cost per click. A cheap click is worthless if people never get to payment through Click or Payme. Watch reply speed too: a request answered a day later is often already lost.
Common beginner mistakes
The same errors repeat: launching without a goal, one image for everything, an audience too narrow for a smaller city, ignoring comments and messages, and stopping a campaign after two days while the algorithm is still learning. Another issue is an empty profile: a person clicks the ad, sees three old posts and leaves.
That is why advertising and account management work best together. If you need help with profile design, content and ads, the markdev team can review your task and suggest a clear launch plan. Tell us about your niche and goals, and we will discuss where it makes sense to start.
FAQ
Do I need a Facebook page to advertise on Instagram?
For Meta Ads Manager it is usually easiest to link your Instagram account to a business page and an ad account. You do not have to actively run Facebook.
What is the difference between boosting a post and using Ads Manager?
Boosting launches quickly with minimal settings. Ads Manager offers more objectives and audiences, plus the pixel and tools for comparing ads.
How long until I see results?
First leads can arrive fast, but a stable cost per result appears after a testing period. It depends on your niche, budget and offer quality.
Can I run ads without a website?
Yes. Many businesses do fine with Direct, Telegram or an in-app lead form. What matters is replying quickly and recording where each customer came from.
