On-Page SEO for Your Website: What to Check on Every Page

On-page SEO covers everything you can change on the website itself: structure, URLs, titles, copy, internal links and images. Because it is fully in your hands, it is the right place to start if you want your business to be found on Google and Yandex in Uzbekistan.

Why on-page SEO comes first

Picture a shop in Tashkent with great advertising but confusing shelves and no signs inside. People walk in and walk out. A website works the same way: if a search robot cannot tell what lives where, and a visitor coming from Instagram struggles on a phone, outside signals such as mentions and backlinks will not change much.

On-page SEO does not promise an overnight jump. What it does is remove the obstacles that keep good pages out of search results or show them for random queries.

Site-wide checks: the foundation

Start with whatever affects every page at once. A mistake here drags the whole site down, and a fix helps everything together.

  • Indexing: service pages, cart and internal search are closed; important pages are open and listed in the sitemap.
  • Duplicates: each page has one address, with www and non-www, trailing slash and no slash all redirected to a single version.
  • URLs: short, in Latin letters, without random parameters or numbers that change after a site update.
  • HTTPS on every page, no broken links, no long redirect chains.
  • Mobile layout and speed: many of your customers arrive from Instagram and Telegram on a phone.
  • Navigation: menu and breadcrumbs that show the structure rather than just decorate the header.

Page-level on-page SEO

For every important page, choose one main query and a few close variations. A dental clinic might target implant placement, and answer related questions about stages, contraindications and how payment works. Do not build two pages for the same query; they will compete with each other.

The title should contain the query and a clear benefit. The meta description should say honestly what the visitor will find. It does not raise rankings directly, but it influences whether people click. Use one H1, then a logical order of H2 and H3 headings, which helps readers and robots alike.

Give images meaningful file names and alt text, and compress them so pages do not crawl on mobile data. For service businesses, real photos of your work and team build more trust than stock images. Add structured data where the page type fits: organisation, product, or questions and answers.

Copy and internal linking

Keyword density is no longer the point. A page has to answer the customer’s question more fully and more concretely than competitors: terms, how the price is calculated, the steps of the work, answers to common doubts. The query should appear naturally in the heading and first paragraph, not in every sentence. Phrases like “dentist Tashkent cheap” read as written for a robot and put people off.

Internal links tell search engines which sections matter most. Connect articles to services, categories to subcategories, services to branches. Anchor text should describe the target page, not say “click here”. A page with no internal links pointing to it can only be found by accident.

Common mistakes

These show up most often on small and mid-sized business sites:

  • identical titles and descriptions across dozens of pages;
  • several H1 tags, or one H1 that is just the logo on every page;
  • prices and terms placed only in images or sliders;
  • orphan pages with no internal links;
  • headings chosen for font size instead of meaning.

Order of work and how to measure it

Begin with indexing, duplicates and structure. Then move to the home page and main commercial pages, then articles that already bring traffic, and the remaining pages last. Log every change with its date.

After a few weeks, open Search Console and Yandex Webmaster and filter the report by the page’s URL. Compare the periods before and after: queries, impressions, clicks and CTR. If impressions grew but clicks did not, rewrite the title and description. If nothing moved, check that the page was recrawled and compare it with those ranking above you. A crawler will find duplicates and empty tags, but only a person can judge whether a page truly answers the customer.

FAQ

What is the difference between on-page and off-page SEO?

On-page SEO is done on the site itself: structure, tags, copy, links and images. Off-page SEO relies on signals outside the site, such as links pointing to it. You fully control the first, so it usually comes first.

How many keywords should one page have?

There is no fixed number. Pick one main query and a few close phrasings, and use them naturally in headings and the opening paragraph. What matters is that the copy fully answers the customer’s question.

How do I know on-page SEO worked?

After a few weeks, compare impressions, clicks and queries for a specific page in Search Console and Webmaster before and after your edits. Look at individual pages rather than overall site traffic.

Can I do on-page SEO myself?

Unique titles, descriptions and links between pages are manageable on your own. Technical matters such as indexing, duplicates and redirects are better checked with a specialist.
