What on-page SEO actually covers
On-page work answers two questions: can a search engine tell what a page is about, and will a person want to stay on it? That is why it includes technical settings, copy and usability together. Links from other websites and mentions elsewhere are a separate track, usually called off-page SEO.
One point matters for business owners: most on-page SEO is cheaper to build in from the start than to retrofit. Changing the structure and URLs of a site that is already indexed is slow and risky, because you can lose the positions you have already earned.
- site structure and page URLs
- title and description for every page
- H1–H3 headings and body copy
- internal links between pages
- images and their alt text
- loading speed and mobile layout
- sitemap, robots.txt and structured data
Structure: one page for one group of queries
Start with how your customers search, not with code. People look for a dentist in Tashkent, an online shop in Samarkand or an English course using completely different phrases. Collect those queries and assign them to pages: one service or product category gets one page built around its own group of queries.
A common mistake is a single long page called “All services” that answers no query precisely. Keep URLs short, readable and in Latin letters. If the site runs in Russian and Uzbek, give each language its own address and link the versions to each other.
Titles, copy and search snippets
The title is the headline of your site in search results. Put the main phrase near the beginning, but make sure it still reads like a human wrote it. The meta description does not move rankings directly, yet it affects whether people click. Use a single H1 per page, and make it match the topic.
Write the body copy around what a buyer actually asks: what the price depends on, how ordering works, how long it takes, what happens if something goes wrong. Stuffing in keywords only hurts. If your audience is mixed, make the Uzbek and Russian versions complete texts in their own right, not machine translations. Native readers notice the difference immediately.
Technical basics: speed, phones, indexing
Many visitors open a site on a phone, often from a link in Instagram or Telegram. A heavy page with oversized images loses that person within seconds. Compress images, drop scripts you do not need and test on real smartphones, not just on the developer’s monitor.
Then come the basics: HTTPS, a sitemap, a correct robots.txt, a useful 404 page and no duplicate pages. Connect Google Search Console and Yandex Webmaster, because they show what has been indexed and which errors are getting in the way.
Local search and trust signals
For a business with a physical location in Tashkent or the regions, listings on Google Maps and Yandex Maps matter: address, phone, opening hours, photos and reviews. These details should match what the website says.
Trust is part of optimisation too: clear contacts, a Telegram contact button, real photos, reviews and transparent terms. For an online shop, add the payment methods people already use, such as Click and Payme. If a visitor finds the site inconvenient, they leave, and no amount of traffic pays off.
Common mistakes
Most problems repeat from project to project, and nearly all of them appear before launch.
- the site is live but analytics is not connected
- every page has the same title
- the block on indexing from the test stage was never removed
- placeholder text instead of real answers
- copy lifted from competitors
- one page trying to cover ten different services
How to tell whether it is working
Look at impressions and clicks in Search Console, positions for each group of queries and, above all, at the enquiries that come from organic traffic. Rankings alone do not bring in money. What counts is how many requests arrive and how many of them turn into sales.
SEO is not a fast channel, because results build up over time. A promise of “first place in a week” is a red flag. An honest contractor will explain what will be done, how it will be measured and when to expect the first changes.
At markdev we build websites turnkey and put on-page SEO in from the first stage: structure, technical setup and analytics. If you would like to talk through a task for your business in Tashkent, send us a request and we will work out where it makes sense to start.
FAQ
What is on-page SEO in simple terms?
It is the setup and content of your own website that helps a search engine understand your pages and helps visitors find an answer quickly. It covers structure, headings, copy, speed and mobile layout.
Can I do on-page SEO after the site has launched?
You can, but it costs more and carries more risk. Changing structure and URLs may cost you positions, so it is better to lay the foundation during development.
How long until SEO shows results?
No exact figure is honest to give. It depends on competition, the age of the site and the amount of work. Results build gradually, so agree on metrics in advance.
Does my site need an Uzbek version for SEO?
If part of your audience searches in Uzbek, a separate, complete version lets you appear for those queries. It should be written naturally rather than translated automatically.
