What “turnkey” should mean in practice
Turnkey means you end up with a working shop, not a folder of mockups and code that still needs finishing. A customer can pick a product, add it to the cart, pay and receive a confirmation, while your manager sees the order and can process it.
So the first thing to request is a written list of what is included. If it leaves out the admin panel, analytics setup or the handover of source code and access, the final amount will probably grow after the contract is signed.
- a catalog with categories, filters and search
- product pages, a cart and a short checkout
- online payment and delivery cost calculation
- an admin panel for adding products and handling orders
- analytics connected from day one
- source code and access that stay with you
How the price of an online store is built
The biggest multiplier is the catalog. Ten products in a single category and several thousand items with size, color and stock variations are not the same job: data import, a well-thought-out structure and clean product pages all take time, and without them the shop is hard to use.
The second layer is design. A ready-made theme with your logo costs less than custom product pages, banners and a hand-drawn mobile layout. In Uzbekistan the mobile version is not an extra: most shoppers arrive from a phone, often from Instagram or Telegram, and an awkward cart on a small screen sends them away.
The third layer is business logic: discounts and promo codes, customer accounts, two interface languages (Russian and Uzbek are usually both needed), separate retail and wholesale prices. Each of these is its own block of work with its own estimate.
Payments, delivery and stock: where costs hide
Integrations are what usually explain the gap between two seemingly identical quotes. Connecting Click or Payme, calculating delivery within Tashkent and to the regions, sending orders to a CRM or accounting system, syncing stock with the warehouse: all of it takes developer time and testing with real payments.
If your stock changes often, updating the site by hand soon leads to selling items you no longer have. In that case automatic sync pays for itself even if it raises the starting budget. A Telegram alert to the manager about each new order, on the other hand, is cheap and noticeably speeds up processing.
Where business owners lose money
The first mistake is choosing the lowest bid without comparing scope. A shop with no proper payment flow, or one that was never adapted for phones, ends up costing more in rework than a sound start would have.
The second is launching without analytics. The first weeks show where real buyers come from and at which step they drop off. Without counters that data is gone for good, and you end up setting up ads blind.
The third is treating delivery and payment as minor details. A clear delivery price and a familiar way to pay often decide whether someone places the order or goes to a competitor.
How to keep the first quote reasonable
You do not need to launch everything at once. A sensible path is to release the core: main categories, payment, delivery and analytics. Loyalty programs, advanced filters and accounting integration can follow after the first sales, once you can see what customers actually use.
Marketplaces such as OLX or Uzum are a separate question. They are good at bringing the first buyers, but the rules and visibility are set by the platform. Your own store gives you a customer base you control, so it is complemented by marketplaces rather than replaced by them.
What to prepare before talking to a developer
The more precise your input, the more honest the estimate. Gather a product list or export, a few sites you like, the payment and delivery methods you really use, and an answer to whether you keep stock records in any software.
The markdev team takes on such projects as turnkey website development: a short brief and technical specification first, then a quote and stages with interim acceptance. If you want a rough budget for your assortment, describe the task and we will tell you what to launch now and what can wait.
FAQ
Why is no exact price given without a brief?
The scope is set by the catalog, integrations and design. Until those are described, any figure is a guess. After a brief and a technical specification the estimate becomes concrete.
What does a turnkey online store include?
A catalog, cart, checkout, payment, delivery, admin panel, analytics and the handover of source code and access. The exact list should be written into the contract.
Can Click and Payme be connected?
Yes, local payment systems are normally connected. It is important to test payments, including real transactions, before launch.
Is my own site better than just a marketplace?
A marketplace gives quick first sales, but the platform sets the terms. Your own store gives you control of the customer base and advertising, so using both channels makes sense.
