What organization schema markup does for a business
Search engines build their picture of a company from many places: your website, map listings, directories, social profiles and mentions elsewhere. When these sources disagree, the search engine decides for itself which one to believe. Markup based on the Schema.org vocabulary is a direct statement: this is the official information, and it belongs to us.
In Uzbekistan, a customer often meets a business first on Instagram or in a Telegram channel, then types the brand name into Google to check it. What appears at that moment shapes trust. Markup helps link your site to a real company, supports the choice of logo in results and clarifies details about the business.
Keep expectations realistic. It is a hint, not a command: search engines compare it with other sources and may or may not use it, and results do not appear overnight.
Organization or LocalBusiness: which type to use
Organization fits companies that do not receive visitors: online schools, manufacturers, wholesalers, remote agencies. LocalBusiness is for places people walk into: a dental clinic in Yunusabad, a café in Chilanzar, a car workshop, a beauty salon, a shop.
LocalBusiness has more specific subtypes such as Dentist, Restaurant, AutoRepair and BeautySalon. If one matches, use it, because a precise type leaves less guesswork. Also avoid mixing Organization and LocalBusiness on one site with contradicting details.
Which fields to fill in
Start with the essentials and add nothing you cannot back up with documents or facts.
For LocalBusiness, also add opening hours, coordinates and the area you serve. The logo should be a real logo, not a banner with a slogan or a photo of your office.
- name — the company name as it appears in your documents and on the signboard, without extra keywords
- url — the address of your home page
- logo — a direct link to a file that opens without logging in
- telephone — the main number in international format, starting with +998
- email — a working address for enquiries
- address — street, city and country
- sameAs — links to your official profiles: Instagram, Telegram channel, YouTube, map listings
Where to place the markup and what to do with branches
The full block is enough on the home page and on the contacts or about page. You do not need to repeat it on every page.
If you run several locations, give each one its own page with its own LocalBusiness markup: its own address, phone number and working hours. Keep the general Organization markup on the home page. A common mistake is to put the head office address on every branch page when customers are not received there.
Keep your name, address and phone consistent
Your name, address and phone number should match in the markup, in the site footer, on the contacts page and in your listings on Google Maps, Yandex Maps and 2GIS. If one place shows the full legal name, another a short version and a third a phone number you stopped using long ago, markup will only cement the confusion.
So audit first: list the data from every source, pick the correct version and fix the rest. Also check that every sameAs link leads to a live profile you actually maintain, not an abandoned page.
Common mistakes
Most errors come from haste rather than bad intent: markup is copied from someone else's template and the data is never replaced.
- third-party directories or sites in sameAs instead of your own profiles
- keywords in name instead of the company name
- a rating built from reviews collected on your own site
- an address where you do not receive customers
- a logo link that is blocked or does not open
- phone numbers written in different formats on different pages
How to test it and what to do next
After publishing, run the page through the Schema.org validator, Google's Rich Results Test and the markup check in Yandex Webmaster. They will show syntax errors and warnings. Then look at how search results for your brand name appear from time to time, and update the markup whenever your phone, address or profiles change.
If you would rather not do it alone, markdev can audit your company data, pick the right type and implement the markup as part of SEO optimisation in Uzbekistan. Tell us about your project and we will suggest where to start.
FAQ
Does a small business need organization schema markup?
Yes, if you have a website. It is a one-off job that helps search engines identify your company correctly, which matters most for generic names or several locations.
Should I choose Organization or LocalBusiness?
Choose Organization if customers do not visit you. Choose LocalBusiness or its precise subtype if you have a place that receives people, such as a clinic, salon, café or shop.
Do I need to add the markup to every page?
No. The home page and the contacts or about page are enough. Each branch needs its own page with its own LocalBusiness markup.
Does the markup guarantee a logo or company panel in search results?
No. It is a hint for search engines, which compare it with other sources and may or may not use it.
