SEO for a New Website in Uzbekistan: Where to Start

SEO for a new website starts at the wireframe stage, not after launch. A fresh domain has no history and no trust, so mistakes in the foundation take months to undo. Here is what to do before going live and in the first weeks afterwards.

Why a new site can't leave SEO for later

A site built without search in mind usually turns into a nice business card that people find only by typing the company name. Rebuilding it costs more than getting it right the first time: page addresses, menus, headings and sometimes whole sections change. When URLs change you need redirects, and then you wait while search engines relearn the site.

A new site also has nothing to prove its usefulness: no behavioral data, no links, no mentions. So the early goal is more modest than "rank first for everything". It is to help crawlers understand what the site is about and to give people a reason to get in touch. Competitive queries like "buy an apartment in Tashkent" rarely move without that base.

SEO for a new website: the pre-launch checklist

Most of this work happens during development and needs little extra budget, provided someone remembers to do it.

  • Define the goal: a lead form, a phone call, an order in a Telegram bot, a payment via Click or Payme. Structure follows the goal.
  • Collect keywords and map them to pages: one page, one main topic.
  • Plan the structure: service or category pages, product cards, contacts, an about page.
  • Block the staging domain from indexing and open the live one on launch day, not the other way round.
  • Prepare title and description templates in advance.
  • Install counters and set up goals before the first visitor arrives.

Keywords: Russian, Uzbek and location

People in Uzbekistan search in Russian and in Uzbek, sometimes mixing both or typing Russian words in Latin letters. "Пластиковые окна" and "plastik oynalar" are different queries with different competition. If your audience is bilingual, separate language versions with their own addresses usually work better than a toggle that swaps text on the same page.

The second layer is geography. For a local business, queries with a city or district matter, along with a Google Business Profile and a 2GIS listing. Do not chase broad phrases first: start with specific queries where the person is ready to contact you. Look at what ranks for them today — service pages, catalogs, articles or aggregators such as OLX and Uzum — and plan your pages accordingly.

The technical base

Technical mistakes on a new site are the most expensive, because that is how a search engine forms its first impression.

  • Mobile speed: most visitors come from phones, often on unstable connections, so heavy images and extra scripts hurt.
  • Responsive layout and easy-to-tap buttons, so a request can be sent from a phone without effort.
  • Clean page addresses without random characters or duplicates.
  • A valid sitemap.xml and a correct robots.txt.
  • HTTPS and a single domain version, with or without www.
  • Heading structure: one H1 per page and logical H2s.
  • A 404 page and redirects whenever addresses change.

Content and first links

Do not write pages for the search engine. A service page should answer the customer's questions: what is included, how the work goes, what shapes the price, which factors affect the timeline, how to get in touch. Specific details from your own practice set it apart from a template. Add real photos, examples of work and reviews you can confirm.

A blog is not for everyone, but it helps answer the questions people ask before buying. Start with a few useful articles built on real customer questions rather than dozens of texts for the sake of volume. Links to a new site come naturally: your Instagram and Telegram channel profiles, 2GIS, industry directories, mentions from partners. Buying bulk links for a fresh domain usually hurts more than it helps.

Analytics and realistic expectations

Connect Google Search Console, Yandex Webmaster and a traffic counter before launch. Search Console shows which pages are indexed, which queries you appear for and where the errors are. Set up goals separately: form submissions, taps on the phone number, clicks to Telegram. Without them you see traffic but cannot tell whether it brings customers.

Timing depends on the niche, competition, site quality and consistency of work, so anyone naming an exact date for top rankings promises something they cannot guarantee. It is more honest to agree on interim metrics: pages in the index, growth in impressions, positions for a group of queries, enquiries from search. While SEO builds up, you can support traffic with Meta Ads or Google Ads.

How to approach it

A sensible order: goals and metrics, keywords, structure, design and development with SEO in mind, launch, analytics, then content and fixes based on data. When one team handles development and SEO, nothing finished has to be redone. At markdev we build websites turnkey and put the search foundation in at the project stage.

FAQ

When should SEO for a new website begin?

Before development, at the structure and keyword stage. That way you will not need to change page addresses and sections after launch.

How soon will a new site get traffic from search?

No one can name an exact time: it depends on the niche, competition and quality of work. Track interim signals such as indexing, impressions and positions.

Does my website need two languages?

If customers search in both Russian and Uzbek, yes. Separate versions with their own addresses cover more queries.
