What web design actually includes
A website design is not a single picture of the homepage. It is a set of decisions: what a visitor sees on the first screen, in what order they read your offer, where they tap the button, and what happens when they try to leave a request. A beautiful site with no clear path to action is a shop window with the lights off.
So the work covers page structure, a prototype, visual style, phone layouts, the look of forms and buttons, and files prepared for developers. Copy and photography are a separate line item: without them, any mockup is just a set of grey boxes.
Design for the phone first
In Uzbekistan, people usually reach a website from Instagram, a Telegram channel or an ad, which means from a phone. If the layout was drawn for a laptop and the mobile version was squeezed in at the end, customers feel it: tiny text, buttons that are hard to hit, a form with ten fields.
Good mobile design means large buttons, short forms, a visible call button and a quick jump to Telegram. Think about connection quality outside Tashkent too. Heavy images and full-screen video can load so slowly that the visitor goes to a competitor's page or an OLX listing instead.
What the price of web design depends on
No one can quote fairly without knowing the task, but you can understand what you are paying for. The cost of web design is shaped by:
- the number of unique pages and content blocks;
- the complexity of animation and interactive elements;
- whether you need a new brand style or already have one;
- who writes the copy and prepares the photos;
- how many languages the site needs: Uzbek, Russian, English;
- links with Telegram, a CRM, or payments through Click or Payme;
- support and revisions after launch.
Template or custom design
A template is cheaper and faster. Custom design gives more freedom but takes more specialist hours. For a small business the sensible choice often sits in between: a proven page structure with your own visual identity applied on top.
Common mistakes on both sides
The first mistake is starting from taste instead of the audience. The owner picks colours from a favourite site, while buyers want a price, an address and a fast way to message you.
The second is an overloaded first screen: a slider, three offers and five buttons at once. People do not know what to do and close the tab. The third is skipping the Uzbek version where customers switch between two languages.
The fourth is launching without analytics. If counters and goals are not set up, a month later nobody can say whether the new design helped or only changed how the site looks.
How to choose a studio and accept the work
Tashkent has freelancers, small teams and full-service agencies. The difference is rarely the prettiest portfolio. It is who can explain their decisions and report with numbers rather than impressions. Ask what task a similar project solved and how the result was measured.
Agree on metrics in advance: number of enquiries, cost per enquiry, page conversion, search positions. Before handover, check that:
- the site opens and reads comfortably on a phone;
- order and call buttons work, and requests arrive in Telegram or your CRM;
- the text is error-free in Uzbek and Russian;
- pages load quickly;
- analytics and goals are connected;
- titles and descriptions are filled in for search;
- you have received access and the source design files.
Where to start
Gather three things: how your business earns money, who your buyer is, and what action a visitor should take. Every sound design begins with that short brief. Then come the prototype, approval, mockups and only after that, development.
At markdev we build websites on a turnkey basis, from structure and design to launch and analytics setup. If you would like to discuss your task, leave a request and we will work out what your business actually needs, without inflated promises.
FAQ
How is web design different from web development?
Design decides structure, appearance and usability: how a person reads a page and reaches the enquiry. Development turns the mockups into a working site with layout code, forms, an admin panel and integrations. They are linked stages, and it is usually easier to run them in one team.
Can I order design separately from development?
Yes, but make sure you get clean mockups with mobile versions and described states for buttons and forms. Otherwise the developer has to guess the details and the final site drifts away from the design.
Do I need a website if I already have Instagram and Telegram?
Social networks attract attention, while a website gives you your own space: service descriptions, prices, reviews, Google visibility and precise tracking of enquiries. Often the site and the social channels work best together.
How do I know the new design worked?
Compare figures before and after: number of enquiries, page conversion, and the share of visitors who leave from the first screen. This only works if analytics is connected before launch.
