Why website design is done in Figma
Figma runs in the browser, so a mockup opens from a link on a phone or laptop and nobody has to forward heavy files through Telegram. The owner, the marketer and the developer all look at the same document and leave comments directly on the screen in question. Feedback doesn't get lost in a chat thread, and version history shows what changed and when.
The second benefit is components and grids. Buttons, product cards, forms and the header are built once and reused on every page, which saves the designer's time and keeps the site consistent. The third is prototyping: pages can be linked together so you can walk through the customer's path before any code is written.
What a finished mockup should include
One polished home page is not a website design; it is a sample. A complete mockup describes the whole site. Otherwise the developer fills in the gaps by guesswork, and the result drifts away from what you approved.
- structure and prototype of the key pages: home, catalog or services, product page, contacts;
- desktop and mobile versions, since most traffic from Instagram and Telegram in Uzbekistan arrives on phones;
- styles: colors, fonts, heading sizes and spacing set up as one system;
- element states: button hover, form error, empty cart, loading;
- real copy instead of placeholder text, even if it is a draft;
- icons, logos and images prepared for export.
How the process works step by step
It starts with the goal of the site: collecting leads, selling online, booking appointments, or acting as a showcase for search. The goal decides which blocks go first and where the main button sits. Next comes the structure, a plain page diagram with no decoration. It is much cheaper to change than a finished design.
Once the structure is agreed, the designer shows the first screen and the visual style. This is the best moment for feedback: if the direction is wrong, say so now rather than after every page is drawn. Then come the remaining pages, the mobile version and the prototype. The file is handed over with organized layers and clear naming so the developer can work from it.
What to consider for the Uzbekistan market
Many sites run in two languages, and Russian and Uzbek text differ noticeably in length. The mockup has to survive longer headings and buttons, or the layout will break after translation. Check that the chosen font displays both Cyrillic and Uzbek Latin correctly, including the o‘ and g‘ characters.
Think about what local buyers expect: a choice of Click or Payme at checkout, a Telegram contact button, and a clear address block that names the district of Tashkent or the region. If your customers are used to listings on OLX or Uzum, avoid inventing an unusual catalog navigation. A familiar pattern converts better than a clever one.
What to check when you approve the design
Approval is not about whether you like it. It is a checklist. Open the prototype on your phone and walk the customer's path from the first visit to the enquiry.
- the main button is visible on the first screen without scrolling;
- text is readable on a small display and contrast is sufficient;
- forms have every field and error message;
- every page makes the next step obvious;
- all pages needed for launch are present, including policy and contacts;
- the file is tidy: layers are named and components are not scattered.
What shapes the price
Design cost depends on the number of unique page layouts, not the total number of URLs: twenty similar product cards are drawn from one template. Other factors are the complexity of animation and interaction, the amount of brand work, whether you need mobile and Uzbek-language versions, and how many revision rounds are included. The more precisely you describe the task up front, the fewer the revisions and the more predictable the budget.
Also ask who owns the Figma file after delivery and whether your developer will get access. It is a simple question that often stays unanswered until there is a dispute.
Design as part of website development
A mockup is most useful when it is made with development and analytics in mind: blocks are planned for counters, forms and tracked events, and the structure reflects search demand. At markdev we do Figma design as the first stage of turnkey website development, so an approved layout becomes a working site without losses along the way. If you want to talk through your project and work out how much design you actually need, send us a request and we will go through it without inflated promises.
FAQ
Does a business owner need to know Figma?
No. Opening the link and leaving comments on the relevant screens is enough. You don't need to edit the file yourself.
Can I order design only, without development?
Yes, many studios and freelancers sell design separately. Just make sure the file is delivered in a form your developer can use and that you receive access to it.
How is a Figma mockup different from a finished website?
A mockup shows the look and logic of the pages but does not function: there are no live forms, payments or database. Those appear during development.
How many revision rounds should I plan for?
Agree in advance on the number of rounds and on what counts as a revision versus a new task. A clear goal and structure before design begins usually cuts the number of revisions considerably.
