Why similar-looking sites cost different amounts
Two websites can look alike on a phone screen and still be very different projects underneath. One has ten pages on a single template. The other has five pages, each with its own design, plus a calculator and payments through Click or Payme. The workload is not comparable.
That is why a vendor who quotes a price in the first message is usually guessing. They do not yet know the page count, the integrations or the number of languages. The gap tends to show up later as an extra invoice.
What goes into a website estimate
A sound estimate starts with the scope of work, not with hours. First the team defines which pages are needed and what job each one does. Then it counts how many unique layouts are required: ten genuinely different pages cost more than thirty identical product cards.
- Structure and design: number of pages and number of unique templates.
- Features: lead forms, catalog, cart, online payment, user account, calculator. Each one is separate work.
- Content: copy, photos, video. Ready materials lower the estimate; creating them from scratch is priced on its own.
- Languages: Uzbek and Russian versions mean double the text and double the pages.
- Technical setup: connecting the domain and hosting, sending leads to Telegram or email, installing analytics.
Landing page, corporate site or online store
A landing page is one page for one service or one ad campaign. The structure is short and features are minimal, so it is the most affordable format. It works well when traffic comes from Instagram or Google Ads and the goal is to collect enquiries.
A corporate site adds services, case studies, a team page and contacts. There are more pages, and each should target a search query, so both the volume of copy and the budget grow.
Online stores and web apps are the most expensive group: catalog, stock levels, payments, user roles, and links to accounting systems or marketplaces such as Uzum. Quoting before a technical specification exists is not realistic here.
Costs people forget to plan for
Domain and hosting are paid separately and renewed every year. Register them in your own company name. If the domain sits under an agency account, control of the asset stays with the agency.
Professional photo and video shoots are a separate scope. So is support after launch, such as editing text or adding pages. Decide before handover whether you will handle it yourself or write it into the contract. And then there is advertising: a site needs visitors, and the ad budget sits on top of the development price.
Paying in soums and in stages
In Tashkent, settlements are made in soums or in a dollar equivalent. Put the currency in the contract from the start so the exchange rate does not become a dispute at the end.
A sensible schedule splits payment into stages: kickoff, approved design, and delivery. You do not hand over the full amount upfront, and the contractor closes one stage before moving to the next.
How to lower the cost without lowering quality
Cut scope, not quality. Launch the first version with only the pages that actually bring enquiries and add the rest later. A website is not something you write once and forget.
Prepare the content yourself: service descriptions, prices, photos of your team and premises. That removes a noticeable part of the estimate. Also skip features requested for the future. Calculators and personal accounts are often asked for just in case and then sit unused after launch.
Talking it through with markdev
At markdev we start with a brief: what you sell, to whom, who your competitors are and what path a visitor should take to become a lead. Only then do we fix the scope of work and price it. If a new task appears mid-project, we estimate it separately and start only after you agree.
If you are planning a site and want a realistic budget for your case, tell us about it. We will go through the scope together and suggest where to begin.
FAQ
Why is there no single price for a website?
Because it depends on page count, features, integrations, languages and how ready your content is. Without a brief, any number is a guess rather than a calculation.
Can I pay for a website in soums?
Yes. Settlements in Tashkent can be in soums or a dollar equivalent. Agree the currency and payment schedule in the contract before work starts.
Are domain and hosting included in the price?
Usually not. They are paid separately and renewed yearly. What matters is that they are registered to your company, not to the contractor.
What affects the price the most?
The number of unique pages, features like catalog and payments, integrations with outside systems, a second language version, and whether texts and photos are ready.
How can I save money without hurting the site?
Launch the first version with only essential pages, prepare content yourself, and drop features you might need someday.
