What the recrawl tool actually does
Yandex's robot decides for itself how often to come back to a site. A busy online store may be visited often, while a small clinic or studio website in Tashkent may be visited less. After you change an important page, the search results can keep showing the old version for a while: the old title, the old description, the old price.
In Webmaster you submit a list of URLs and they enter a priority queue. This is not a command and not a guarantee. It is an extra signal that says this page is worth a look now. Everything else still depends on page quality and the technical health of your site.
When it makes sense to submit pages
The rule is simple: submit what has really changed and matters for leads. If a page is unchanged, the robot will fetch the same version and you will have spent part of your limit for nothing.
- A new service, category or article page has been published.
- Prices, availability or terms changed on key pages.
- A technical error was fixed, such as an accidental noindex or deleted text.
- Title and description were rewritten but the old snippet is still showing.
- A page was unavailable and now opens again with a 200 status.
How to submit URLs for recrawl
The procedure is short, but a few details cause most of the mistakes.
- Open the right site in Webmaster and find the page recrawl tool in the indexing section.
- Paste full URLs including the protocol, one per line.
- Send the list and watch the status, which shows when a URL is queued and when the robot has visited it.
- Check beforehand that the page returns 200 and is not blocked from indexing.
Daily limit and priorities
Each site has a daily limit on the number of URLs. The value depends on the site and can change, so rely on the figure shown in the tool itself. Because the limit is finite, order matters: pages that bring or should bring enquiries first, then categories, then informational content.
URLs must belong to the verified site and its main mirror. If your site opens under several address variants, submit only the main one and redirect the others to it.
How not to waste the limit
These habits look harmless but use up the quota fastest.
- Submitting links with UTM tags or other parameters.
- Listing non-canonical versions of pages.
- Sending the same URL every day.
- Sending a redirecting URL instead of the final destination.
A recrawl is not the same as being indexed
The robot will download the page, but the decision to include it in search is made separately. If the page duplicates another one, has almost no useful text or is closed from indexing, a recrawl changes nothing. Some time after the visit, check the URL's status in the pages-in-search report. If it is missing there, look for the cause in the page itself, not in the queue.
A simple tracking sheet helps: URL, date submitted, date crawled, result. It shows at a glance what has been sent and what was forgotten.
What to do when many pages change
After a redesign or a change to the product card template, manual submission cannot cover everything. Start with the homepage, main services and categories, pages with the most traffic and pages whose addresses changed. Spread the rest over the following days.
For regular publishing, connect the IndexNow protocol so the site notifies Yandex about new and changed pages by itself. Many CMS platforms support it through plugins, and a custom-built site needs only a small script. Add an up-to-date sitemap with correct lastmod dates and internal links to new pages.
All of this is easier to build in from the start than to patch later: correct response codes, a sitemap and automatic notifications should work from day one. FAQ
How many pages can I submit for recrawl per day?
The limit depends on the site and may change. The current value is shown in the tool inside Yandex Webmaster, so check it there and start with your most important pages.
Does a recrawl guarantee the page will appear in search?
No. The robot only downloads the page, and the decision to include it in search is made separately. Duplicate, thin or blocked pages will not appear even after a visit.
Should I submit URLs with UTM tags?
No. Submit final canonical URLs without parameters or redirects, otherwise you waste the daily limit.
What can replace manual submission when there are many pages?
Use IndexNow, keep the sitemap current with lastmod dates and add internal links to new pages. Submit manually only the most important URLs.
