Why design the site in Figma before development
Figma is an online interface editor. A mockup opens in the browser from a link, so the owner, the marketer and the developer all look at the same file and leave comments directly on the screens. No more sending archives through Telegram and guessing which version is current.
A mockup does three jobs: it shows what the site will look like, it fixes the structure and copy, and it works as the brief for the developer. Without it, spacing, button states and the way the mobile menu behaves get guessed along the way, and the result drifts from what you expected.
The stages of the work
A sound process moves from meaning to visuals, not the other way round. It usually looks like this:
- Brief and goal: what the site must do — collect leads, take orders, show a catalogue.
- Page structure without colour or images (a wireframe): block order and the customer's path to the button.
- Visual direction: fonts, palette, photo style, fit with your brand.
- Design of the key screens, then the remaining pages.
- Mobile version and tablet adaptation.
- Interactive prototype, sign-off and handover to the developer.
What a finished Figma mockup should contain
A beautiful homepage is not yet a site design. Check that the file has everything development needs:
The last items are often forgotten and then resurface as "extras" during build, with their own price and timeline.
- Every page and screen for desktop and phone, not just the homepage.
- Element states: hover, press, form errors, an empty cart.
- Colours, fonts, buttons and fields set up as reusable components.
- Real or realistic copy instead of "Lorem ipsum" — real text often breaks tidy blocks.
- Prepared images and icons with clear export rules.
- A description of animations and transitions, if there are any.
What to consider for a website design in Uzbekistan
Most visitors arrive from a phone — from Instagram, Telegram, Meta and Google ads, even OLX or Uzum listings. That is why the mobile screen is designed first, not second. A call button, a Telegram link and a lead form should be within reach without a long scroll.
Language is the second point. Russian and Uzbek copy differ in length, and a button that fit one short word may not fit the Uzbek version. Leave room for both from the start. If the site takes online payments, design the Click or Payme selection screen and the page after payment, including a declined payment and a retry.
The third is page weight. Heavy photos from a mockup turn into a slow site on mobile internet outside the capital. Agree on image formats and sizes before the build begins.
What drives the price
The price depends on the scope and depth of the work, not the software. It is shaped by the number of unique screens (a standard page costs less than a custom one), whether research and wireframes are included, how complex the interactions and animations are, how many mobile states are needed, whether you want a component system for future growth and how many revision rounds are included.
Ask the contractor to spell out what each stage contains. A suspiciously low price often means a ready-made template that ignores your goals, while a vague estimate usually ends in arguments over revisions.
How to approve a mockup without overpaying for changes
Look at the mockup as a customer would: open the prototype on your phone and walk from the first screen to the enquiry. If the path is long or unclear, fix it now, not after the build.
Collect feedback in a single list and leave it in the file itself — scattered messages in chat apps get lost and stretch the schedule. Agree in advance what counts as a revision and what counts as a new task, and make sure you will receive access to the Figma file when the work is finished.
Once the mockup is approved, a developer builds the site. Before launch, compare the result with the design, check that leads reach your Telegram or CRM, and connect analytics — otherwise you won't know whether the site pays off.
Where to start

FAQ
Why use Figma instead of building straight in a site builder?
A mockup lets you agree on structure and look before development starts. Moving blocks in Figma is far cheaper than reworking a finished site, and a prototype lets you test the customer journey early.
Do I need a separate mockup for mobile?
Yes. For most businesses in Uzbekistan mobile traffic is the main source, so design the phone version on its own rather than hoping the desktop layout will adapt.
Who owns the Figma file after the project?
Agree on this up front. Ask for access to the file and source assets at handover so you don't depend on a single contractor.
Can I order only the design without development?
You can, but the mockup must be prepared so that any developer can work from it: with components, element states and a mobile version.
