Where is Instagram Ads Manager
Business owners usually go looking for a tab where they can set an audience, a budget and a campaign goal. The app has no such full tab. It offers a simplified set of tools: a promote button under a post and a section showing how your promotions performed. The full dashboard is called Ads Manager, and it is shared between Instagram and Facebook.
Button and menu names change with app updates, so search by meaning: promote, ads, business tools. If none of these appear, your account is probably personal. Switch it to a professional account in settings and the section should show up.
Three places where ads are managed
All three lead to the same Meta ad account, but they differ in how much control you get.
- Instagram app: promote a post or Reel, see active and finished promotions, check basic results and set a payment method.
- Meta Business Suite: posts, messages, insights and ads for Instagram and Facebook in one window, on the web and as a mobile app.
- Ads Manager: every campaign objective, audience options, placements, A/B tests and detailed reports. This is the media buyer's main tool.
How to open Ads Manager on a computer
A desktop browser is the easiest way to work, because tables and reports need space. The steps are:
- Log in to the Facebook profile connected to your business.
- Open Meta Business Suite or the Facebook menu and go to Ads Manager.
- Choose the right ad account in the account switcher.
- Start creating an ad and confirm that your Instagram profile is available as the identity for the ad.
- Bookmark the page so you do not have to hunt for it again.
What to do when it will not open
Most problems come down to one of four causes, and none of them requires a third-party service.
- No ads section in Instagram: the account is personal, or the app is out of date.
- Ads Manager cannot see Instagram: the profile is not connected to your business portfolio or Page.
- No access to the ad account: ask the portfolio admin to assign you a role.
- Instagram is tied to someone else's portfolio, such as a former contractor's: it has to be disconnected there first.
Which entry point suits your business
Take a small coffee shop in Tashkent where the owner runs the profile personally. The app is usually enough: boost a Reel about the new menu, set a budget and check reach. For occasional promotion like that, a full dashboard is overkill.
If you sell on Uzum or OLX and also run Instagram, Business Suite is more convenient because content, messages and ads sit together. When you need leads sent to a Telegram bot, several audiences tested side by side and a report for every ad, Ads Manager is the right tool. For a clinic in Samarkand or a shop taking payments through Click and Payme, it is what gives you control over the cost of each inquiry.
Giving a contractor access safely
Some websites advertise their own Instagram ads cabinet. These are intermediaries, and they ask for access to your account in order to work. Meta's official tools are the safer route.
Never hand over your Instagram or Facebook password. In business portfolio settings you can grant a contractor access to just the ad account and the Instagram profile, then remove it in the same place when the job ends. An agency connects as a partner from its own portfolio. Write down which Facebook profile is used to log in and who the admins are, so that when ads must be paused in a hurry nobody has to search for it.
Where to start
First check the account type and connect Instagram to a business portfolio. Then run one simple promotion from the app to see how your audience reacts. Once you have a regular budget, move to Ads Manager and keep all advertising in one place.

FAQ
Is there an ads dashboard inside the Instagram app?
Not a full one. The app lets you promote posts and view basic results. Objectives, audiences and detailed reports are set up in Ads Manager.
Why is there no promote button on my Instagram?
Most often the account is personal. Switch to a professional account in settings and update the app. Also check that the account is not restricted.
Do I need Facebook to use Ads Manager?
Yes, you need a Facebook profile to create the business portfolio and assign roles. The ads themselves can run on Instagram only.
Can I give a media buyer access without my password?
Yes. In business portfolio settings you grant access to the ad account and the Instagram profile, and you can revoke it in the same place when the work is done.
